March Favourites

I don't normally tend to do many make-up and beauty related posts which are not hauls but I am hoping to branch out a little more. I am not expert in make-up and most of what I do know has been learnt from bloggers, youtubers and magazines. I am thinking about doing full reviews on some of my make-up items so if anyone wants to me do some make-up reviews leave a comment below.

001. The first on my list is the Olay gentle cleansers refreshing toner. I have been using this for a over a year now but I have come to love it even more recently. I have very sensitive skin and eyes so taking make-up off can be tricky however this is super gentle and gets all my make-up off. I used to use an eye make-up remover (as seen in my skincare post however I have recently started using this to take my eye make-up off as well as a toner.

002. The second item is the Revlon ColorStay foundation for Combination/ Oily skin in 110 Ivory. I have very pale skin and I really struggle to find foundation that actually matches my skintone as most ivory shades are too dark for me. I bought this after hearing Leanne rave about it as she also  has very pale skin. This shade is perfect for any pale girls out there.

003. Another favourite of mine has to be the benefit erase paste in 01 light. I have really dark under eye circles plus I have very pale skin which makes them look ever worse. This product is expensive however if like me you will do anything to get rid of those dark cirles. It doesn't completely get rid of them, I am yet to find a product that does, but it really reduces them and makes a huge difference to my eyes.

004. The sleek brow kit in light is my holy grail brow product. I have wanted this for so long and I have seen so many rave reviews that I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and it has not let me down. I  do not know how I did my brows before this but I am never going back, I can see this being a staple in my make-up collection for years to come. The shadow and wax are the perfect shades and the colour can easily be built up.

005. The final product in my favourites is the elf mineral blush in joy. I got this product last year in the elf mineral starter kit and I never really bothered with it as I am not a huge blusher fan as I have quite red cheeks. I decided to give it a go one day and I am so glad I did. As it is a mineral blush the colour is quite light (perfect for me) but it can be built up for evenings. I struggled to take a picture of the blush which was true to colour but the few bits in the black lid are very close.

Sunshine makes me Shop

Dress with cut out detail: £13

White dress: £15

White shirt: £10

Yellow high-low skirt: £10

My beloved black tights: £2 each

Pj bottoms: £5 each

I thought I would share my goodies from primark with you which I bought yesterday. I live in dresses when it is sunny, which it has been for the past free days so I thought I would pick up some simple everyday dresses as I haven't bought any new ones in a while. I also picked up another shirt as I am helpless to resist and I have seen this on a few people and I have been wanting it for a while. I also picked up a skirt, I have been looking at similar ones for a while now but never bought one. I was going to buy black but they were all out of my size so I picked the yellow one up to try on. I am really glad I got the yellow one now as I wear a lot of black and this feels a lot more summery, however I do think I will get a black one if I do see one.

I did spend quite a bit in there but I did get some essentials like black tights, pj's and also some underwear. A lot of people have been saying that primark has been getting more expensive and I can see what they mean compared to what it used to be like however I still think that is cheap when compared to other high street shops.

Home, Sweet Home: The Land of Internet

I am back in Manchester now which I am very happy about as I spent the last week of term in Lancaster with no internet, which is why I have not blogged in a week. The few hours of internet I had while in uni were spent catching up on mail online and online shopping. I still read my favourite blogs however I forgot to bring my memory card with my pictures on so I didn't have anything to post about. I was really good this week with my outfit pictures however towards the end of the week I did give up as I knew I wouldn't have internet till I got back home.

I didn't realise how much I rely on the internet till I had a week without it. The first two days I was fine however after that it began to get a little annoying. I use the internet for my uni work so I had to take my laptop into uni and get all the documents I needed for coursework and save them to my desktop. Even when I had all my work I still found I rely on the internet a lot for checking definitions and references. I sounds really bad but I really missed being able to get online instantly, I am defiantly the child of the online generation.

Since I took some outfit posts I thought I would share these two with you. I took some of my everyday outfits but they were causal outfits which I have worn before and I am sure I will show you again some time.

 Dress: h&m
Belt: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfidge

Dress: french connection

I wore this when I went out on wednesday night. I got this dress two years ago for my sixth form leaving do and it is one of my favourites. I love the print on it and the colours, as soon as I saw the dress I knew I had to have it. It is also really flattering on my curves so I always feel really nice when I wear this.

I am going shopping tomorrow with my best friend from home so I am looking forward to sharing my haul with you. I have a few things that I am looking out for so hopefully I will come home tomorrow with lots of heavy bags and a very light purse.

C for Chatterbox

Vest top: h&m
Shirt: Primark
Wet look leggings: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfidge
Belt: New Look
Bag: Vintage fair
Ring: Accessorize
Boots: KG (unseen)

I went out for drinks with the housemates last night and I had no tights as they were all in the wash. I have nightmares about things like that happening. My flatmate got some wet look leggings last week and they looked really nice on so I thought I would get my old beauties out. I have these for a few years now and I used to wear them all the time for going out and I would always were them for gigs as they were comfy and really easy to wear with a long top and biker boots. It was nice wearing some thing other than a dress or skirt for a change despite it begin out of my comfort zone. Maybe I will get a pair of nice jeans for going out in when I  go shopping? Too far??

I said in my last post that I have been really busy with uni work this week so I don't think I will do a Sunday Summary like I normally do as I haven't took any pictures this week - and what is a blog post without pictures. Me and Laura had a girls night on Wednesday after finishing our last ever grammar presentation :) We had pre-drinks while watching some old sex and the city episodes. We have been watching the box set for over a year and are only up to season 4 so far - we really need to up our game. We then headed to town on the last bus so there was no queue to get in Sugar so we had big smiles as it is normally about an hour. We were both rubbish and didn't take any outfit pictures but I am sure i will wear my dress again sometime to show you.

I also had my last Stylistics presentation this week which was really bittersweet. I was really glad to have all my presentations done for the year however Stylistics is my favorite module and my lecturer who is also the tutor is retiring this year and it makes me very very sad. He is amazing, I have never met anyone who is so passionate about their work and I have to say that it is infectious. Stylistics is the linguistic analysis of literary texts so it is the perfect mix of lit and language for me and Mick Short who is my lecturer has done so much work in this field and is one of the best stylistions in the world and has done a lot of work with Geoff Leech (for all you language geeks) who used to work at Lancaster. I am hoping to do my own stylistic analysis for my dissertation, I am pretty sad that I won't have Mick as my supervisor however he has assured me that their are other in the department who can supervise but they are not as good as him :) Mick is famous for wearing bow ties rather than ties so for our final lecture on Monday we are all going to wear bow ties, I have actually borrowed one of his to wear and he taught me how to tie it. I will make sure I get a picture of me in the bow tie.

Sorry for the long post, I went off on a bit of tangent. I also want to say Happy Mother's Day to my amazing mummy! We are celebrating mothers day next week as I finish for easter this week so will be home for a few weeks. I will do a post next week on what I bought my mum and about how lovely she is. I bought her present a few weeks ago and I am so bad with presents, I always want to give them out as soon as I buy them and my mum is my favorite person to shop for - I always want to get her everything.

G for Good as New

Top: h&m
Skirt: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Scarf: Primark
Rings: New Look and topshop

I have had two presentations this week so I haven't taken any outfit pictures all week. I cannot believe that I have finished all my presentations for second year, I just have four essays to write and exams now till I am a third year - this year has gone way too fast! and I have a feeling that next year will be just as bad.

I discovered this top in my wardrobe this morning, I bought this a few months back and completely forgot about it. I don't think I have ever worn it. It a bit big, I must have bought it when I loved wearing oversized vests, I don't think it is very flattering as an oversized vest on me as it completely hides my waist and it makes me look big rather than curvy but it is fine with a skirt. I hate it when I buy things and forget about them, it feels like a waste because I never seem to love them as much - the worrying thing is that this happens to me quite a lot, I tend to wear the same things every week while half my clothes just sit in my wardrobe. I did have a clear out before I came back to uni after Christmas so I will probably have another while at home over easter and then I have space for some new items. I am itching to go shopping, I haven't been in while and I love shopping. I am always looking at stuff online but I really like to try things on before I buy as I am quite an awkward size.

Speaking of shopping, I have recently discovered the buy and sell on asos and I love it. There is some great stuff on there. There are a number of things I have my eye on such as some lovely vintage designer scarfs and a polka dot skirt. The only problem is that some of the items only have one of the item so if you love something I would get it as soon as possible. I am still deciding on what I want - I have about £200 worth of stuff which I really like and my mum will kill me if get it all. Plus the vintage fair is at Lancaster again tomorrow so might pick up a few bargains there however if the vintage fair fails me I am sure I will end up making a sneaky purchase.

P for Polka Dot Overload

Shirt: Primark
Skirt: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Boots: KG
Bag: Vintage fair
Necklace: Tiffany

This is the outfit I wore on Saturday when I went for drinks with the housemates. I have worn this outfit before and a really cool woman at the vintage fair said she really loved my clashing polka dots. I was so happy, I have never been complimented by a stranger before, especially one who made amazing jewelry and was wearing a really cute dress. She was probably just being polite as I was buying a ring from her but I think it still counts. I bought this skirt and top in my end of January spree, ( I think I am due another spree soon) I was feeling very girly and clearly cheating on my beloved stripes, I am sure they will forgive me. I really like the clash of the two different polka dots as I think it is a more subtle way of clashing prints as they are both quite simple. On my next spree I am going to look out for some simple prints which I can clash, I don't think I am quite ready for clashing bold prints just yet but I am working on it.

 Toffee Crunch ice cream

 Sunday breakfast

Laura bought me a watch ring, broke in less than 5 mintues

nerdin' about

Top of the class, so proud

Cheeky V

My week has been pretty average, I have been in uni and doing uni work - I have been quite the boring student. I have started watching new girl this week and I have become a little obsessed, I am up to episode 11 already - I just love Jess and all her clothes. I watched the last harry potter on friday night and cried as usual. I am the worst person to watch a film with, I talk all the way through it and always cry.

My weekend: did some washing, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned the bathroom, ate food, attempted grammar reading, bought viva glam nicki lipstick online, ranted about flatmates who never clean, watched tv, ate more food, went out, did more washing, watched football, ate food, watched tv, ate more food.

I have my last two presentations of second year this week so I will busy with uni but I will be so glad when they are done. I am looking forward to celebrating with my groups and hopefully toasting our A's although I will be happy with never having to make grammar interesting.

B for Bright and Black

Shirt: Matalan
Top: h&m
Leggings: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Necklace: Tiffany

I am running low on tights this week due to ripping two pairs and it being the end of the week so I have to do some washing. I don't own any pants so I live in skirts, dresses and leggings. I was only in uni for an hour today so I thought I would throw some leggings on - I wasn't wasting a good pair of tights just for an hour and a trip to asda.

I got this shirt from Matalan when I was home the other week. I always see nice stuff in magazines from Matalan but for some reason I hardly ever go in. I have just discovered that they have website so I would recommend having a look as it is fairly cheap and I love the home-ware department. I was not overwhelmed with the stuff in the store but I this shirt caught my eye - It is so bright. It was £12 so it wasn't expensive. It is quite sheer but I like to wear long vest tops with leggings that cover my bum - I hate it when I can see peoples underwear through leggings so I always make sure I have extra thick leggings and a long top.

L for Lace, Lists and inappropriate Licks

Dress: Primark
Belt: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Necklace: Tiffany

I have had a full day in uni today so I am glad to be home in and in my pj's now and waiting for my big fat gypsy wedding to come on, bliss. I am in a list writing mood today so I thought I would share my day with you in list form.

1. Ripped a pair of tights
2. Made a fish finger sandwich with 5 fish fingers
3. Got my dress caught on Laura's bag in the middle of Alex square (the middle of campus, lots of people)
4. Got toffee crunch ice cream from ice cream shop on campus
5. Accidently made an inappropriate suggestion about licking each others ice cream which was taken the wrong way, understandable looking back on it
6. Made some lecture notes in doodle form
7. Got my dress caught on Laura's bag, this time on the bus,  tying to get off, lots of people we know, looked like a man walking his dog, I was the dog, walked half way home like this, freedom
8. Ripped another pair of tights

P for Peachy Hearts

Shirt: New Look
Shorts: Primark
Necklace: Tiffany
Nails: OPI in Suzi Says Feng Shui

I really must stop wearing buying sheer shirts but they look nice when they are not subjected to the dreaded flash of my camera. I have been having some issues with my tights recently, the elastic seems to have completely gone in all of them and they fall down every four steps. I go through a ridiculous number of tights in a year, I wear them nearly everyday and they have to be at least 60 denier. I am in serious need of a trip to primark to stock up (I have been known to spend £20 just on tights in there, yes I do get funny looks). Is is mad that I would struggle to dress myself I had no black tights? even in summer? As always I blame my mother for my addiction, she is also a lover of black tights and claims that black tights can finish off any outfit. I think she might be right but don't tell her that.

Sunday Summary 004

 Pajamas's
 fancy crisps
( basically sensations in fancy bowls)
 free benefit goodies

 Mr men cupcakes

 Company and new Elle magazines

Homemade lemon meringue pie

I have had the lazy-est week ever. It is official, I would make myself an award for the most wasted hours in one week but I am too lazy. It is near the end of term now so I have been given all my coursework questions and everything so it is not as if I have nothing to do. I am just as the stage where I don't know what to start first as my coursework is all due around the same period so nothing has a priority. To a lot of people this would be a good thing as it gives you more freedom however I like deadlines as they motivate me and I like to focus on one thing at a time. I am hoping to avoid having another lazy week by getting organised and making a coursework plan so I get started now so I can have some fun with my friends at easter without feeling guilty.

L for Laundry day

Top: h&m
Skirt: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Rings: New Look, Topshop

I was a little to eager to take my OFTD yesterday as I did it before I finished getting ready which is why I have no rings on in my first picture. I would also like to apologize for my bra showing in the first picture, I live in the downstairs room and I have no natural light what-so-ever so I had to use my flash but this was the only part of the day where my bra was visible. I like to think that I am the kind of girl who puts lots of thought into her outfits however that is not the case. I wore this skirt and top as I had had worn them both  earlier in the week for a few hours so I put them both back on again as I hate ironing. Plus I am a student so I can get away with this sort of behavior. When I am at home this is a different story, I will wear as many different outfits as possible as my mum does all my washing and ironing. It drives her crazy and she shouts at me.

ps. I never actually say laundry as I am British but it sounded much better than washing day plus I watch way too many american shows.
